i hear through the grapevine about tournaments in teh area, but when i try to find more info online, i cant find anything, is there a place where local bars and places put up their poker tourney info online?
Try here: it says it's America's #1 bar poker league www.worldtavernpoker.com
Also, sometimes see notes on Craig's list of private games
Also, meetup.com

Bartenders know stuff like that.. Where there is any form of gambling.. ask around there. Go back to the grapevine and follow up. Poker players will spread the word. More players bigger the purse.

Organizing Poker Tournaments?
Jun 24, 2010 by JJ | Posted in Card Games
How do you go about organizing a friendly, local poker tournament? Buy-ins? Prizes? Player limits? Free drinks? Security? Any suggestions on how to promote the tournament?
plan for the buy ins - the more cheaper the possible more player
choose your target players - age etc - or make it open to all
get a venue - ready all the stuff needed for the game
think of prizes that would motivate players to join
