Is a night at a hotel and a nice dinner a good birthday gift?

My step father's birthday is in February. We live in Shreveport, LA and I wanted to buy a night's stay at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel plus dinner for my step-father and mother. Would that be a good birthday gift? I plan on spending around $500.

they really are both fine. mind you that they are on 2 different sides of I-20. in the end, i'd probably choose the horseshoe. there seems to be more entertainment there.
