Is there gambling/slot machines/ a mini-casino inside the airport in Vegas?
Jul 26, 2008 by Lady K | Posted in Las Vegas
I am flying through Vegas' McCarran Intl Airport and was wondering about any gambling going on inside the Airpirt....Or how far is the Strip from the Airport actually??
There is a 'casino' in the airport. Owned by Michael Gaughan, son of Jackie, the oldtimer who owns el Cortez. NGC regulations do not allow slots that pay out less than 75% and from experience I'd say that is what these slots are set to pay.

You can get any standard type bar drinks. Certainly you'll be able to get margaritas, pina coladas, mojitos, gin&tonics and things like that.
Unless you are in the high limits room you are unlikely to get top shelf liquor.

Can gambling on slot machines be run as a legitimate small business for tax purposes?

Winning jackpots means W2-G forms that increase gross adjusted income even if losses can be claimed as itemized deductions. How can I avoid this?
you would have to be a professional gambler, which means that would be your only source of income. You'd need to be able to show you just about lived in a casino, and have no other means of support.

In 2004, Florida voters approved a state constitutional amendment that allows several pari-mutuel facilities in South Florida to carry slot machines. That means places, like dog tracks and horse tracks, could now have slots in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
